Covenant between Coach and Client

Purpose

Coaching is a relationship that supports leaders in developing their God-given potential in order to grow individually while making valuable contributions to the kingdom of God. This relationship is focused on connecting through powerful questioning that will lead the Client to identify, articulate, and act on goals in his or her life and congregation.

This Coaching relationship will be characterized by the following values:

  • Honesty - We will speak the truth in love.

  • Vulnerability - We will openly share both life and ministry issues that affect the Client as he or she makes progress toward goals.

  • Punctuality - We will be prompt for all appointments and calls in respect of each other.

  • Preparedness - We will seek to complete agreed-upon tasks and be prepared in advance for each coaching appointment.

  • Commitment - We will give our best efforts to the coaching relationship in the trust that God is leading the Client to accomplish his or her goals.

  • Spiritual Support - We agree to pray for each other regularly.

The Coaching Process:

  •  Each coaching conversation will last for 60-75 minutes.

  • You are responsible for establishing goals and objectives.

  • I am responsible for the coaching process. I, as Coach, promise to meet you where you are in each session, ask you what you hope for in each session and engage richly with you through direct questions and celebration of successes.

  • We will have a progress review at least mid-way through our coaching contract and/or any time either one of us would like to discuss.

  • Goals are not set in stone and may be modified until you feel confident you are pursuing what is right for you.

  • We will have a close-out session and evaluation at the end of the coaching period.

What You Can Expect from Coaching

Coaching is a collaborative, ongoing professional relationship that helps you produce extraordi-nary results in your life and career. Through the process of coaching, you will deepen your learning about yourself, apply what you learn leading to clarity and improvement in your work and personal life. Coaching focuses on your goals and objectives. Coaching helps you discover your inner resources and avenues for achieving your goals.

Assumptions

Coaching sessions are not therapy or psychological counseling sessions.  We may briefly ex-plore the past to make progress towards achieving your goals. However, we both agree that we will not utilize coaching in place of treatment for mental health issues. Coaching is not mentor-ship. I, as Coach, do not give advice or teach a particular concept. Coaching presupposes that you are resourceful and that you know the right answers for you. I, as Coach, will support you in finding these answers by walking alongside you and asking direct, intentional questions to aid in your exploration. I will hold a space of grace and accountability for you to accomplish the goals you set.

Expectations

We, the Client and Coach, will meet via Zoom (phone). Coach will initiate the session.  Times and dates for sessions will be scheduled at a convenient and workable time for both parties. The length of the coaching relationship will be open-ended, driven by Client’s needs.

Then what?

After Coaching Sessions are purchased, the Client:

  • Completes a questionnaire.

  • Schedules a 10-20 minute phone call with Jamie to get acquainted.

  • Schedules Coaching Session(s).
